Across all parties, women make up around 40% of Senedd election candidates. Labour and the Greens come closest to parity, with Plaid Cymru also relatively strong, while other parties put forward significantly more men. Non‑binary candidates remain a very small share overall.

Focusing on winnable seats, Plaid Cymru has the highest proportion of women candidates, at over 50%, followed by Labour and the Liberal Democrats. The Wales Green Party and Reform UK are lower, at around 30%, with the Conservatives reaching roughly 20%.

In an election where marginal seats will be decisive, women hold around 40% of those constituencies. Plaid Cymru has the highest number of women in marginal seats, while the Conservatives have the lowest.

It is worth noting that figures for parties with fewer winnable and marginal seats may overstate representation.
