Our role

Cavendish led communications and stakeholder engagement for the project in Great Britain, helping create the conditions needed to support planning and delivery.

We developed an integrated programme spanning political engagement, community consultation, media relations and digital communications, building understanding of the project’s contribution to energy security, market resilience and economic growth.

Alongside local engagement, we worked closely with central government advisers and project teams in Germany and the Netherlands to coordinate communications across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory processes.

The challenge

NeuConnect will create the first direct electricity interconnector between the UK and Germany, connecting two of Europe’s largest energy markets and strengthening long-term energy security.

As a nationally significant infrastructure project spanning Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands, success depended on navigating multiple planning regimes while securing the political, stakeholder and community support needed to deliver a complex cross-border development.

The project also progressed against the backdrop of Brexit, requiring careful management of political sensitivities and engagement across multiple jurisdictions.
