Our role
Cavendish delivered an integrated programme spanning government relations, planning communications, media engagement and stakeholder consultation.
We developed the project’s brand identity, communications platform and stakeholder strategy, while aligning the launch with the Government’s decision to designate data centres as Critical National Infrastructure. Working closely with DSIT and local political stakeholders, we positioned DC01UK as a strategically important investment supporting the UK’s digital economy, technological competitiveness and future growth.
The challenge
DC01UK proposed what has the potential to become Europe’s largest data centre, supporting the UK’s rapidly growing demand for AI, cloud computing and digital infrastructure.
At a time when the Government was placing increasing emphasis on digital resilience and economic growth, success depended on positioning the project as nationally significant infrastructure while building political, media and community confidence throughout the planning process.

The impact
The project featured prominently within the Government’s announcement on Critical National Infrastructure and secured support from senior political stakeholders, including Technology Secretary Peter Kyle.
The programme generated extensive national coverage across the BBC, Financial Times, Reuters, CNBC and The Guardian, while helping build political and stakeholder support that contributed to the project securing a resolution to grant planning permission.
