Our role
Cavendish manages stakeholder and community engagement programmes for Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton Airports as part of the CAA’s CAP1616 airspace change process.
Working across multiple airports simultaneously, we designed and delivered tailored engagement strategies proportionate to the scale and geographic impact of each proposed airspace change.
Our work included engagement with aviation stakeholders, local communities, political representatives and regional business organisations, alongside management of consultation activity and regulatory engagement requirements throughout the multi-stage process.
The programme focused on helping AGS maintain momentum and stakeholder engagement across a highly regulated and operationally complex infrastructure programme.
The challenge
As the UK aviation sector undergoes major airspace modernisation, airports face increasingly complex regulatory, political and community engagement requirements around operational change and future capacity management.
For AGS Airports, the challenge was to successfully navigate the Civil Aviation Authority’s Airspace Change Proposal (ACP) process across multiple airports while maintaining stakeholder confidence and meeting demanding regulatory requirements.
The business needed to manage large-scale engagement programmes involving local communities, elected representatives, aviation stakeholders and regional businesses across multiple regions and parallel project timelines..
The impact
With Cavendish’s support, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton Airports all successfully completed Stage 1 and Stage 2 gateway requirements within the CAA’s CAP1616 process without delay.
The programme delivered detailed engagement across a broad stakeholder environment spanning aviation, political, business and community audiences.
Our work on the programme also helped establish Cavendish as a recognised specialist in aviation airspace consultation and engagement, leading to further appointments across major UK airports including Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and Bristol Airport.
