Our role

Cavendish supported the launch of HyDeploy, the UK’s first live hydrogen blending trial, developing the strategic messaging, stakeholder engagement and communications programme around the project.

Working across political, industry, academic and regulatory audiences, we positioned the project not simply as an infrastructure trial, but as an important demonstration of how existing energy networks could support the transition to lower-carbon heating.

We secured engagement from key political and sector stakeholders, including Sir Ed Davey MP, former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, as keynote speaker for the Westminster launch event.

Alongside stakeholder engagement, we delivered a coordinated media and digital communications programme designed to build wider awareness and confidence around the project and its role within the future energy transition.

The challenge

As the UK explored pathways to decarbonise heat and energy infrastructure, hydrogen emerged as a politically significant but highly scrutinised technology.

For the HyDeploy consortium, the challenge was not simply launching a technical trial, but building confidence among political, regulatory and industry stakeholders that hydrogen blending could provide a safe, practical and scalable route towards decarbonising the gas network.

The project needed to establish credibility with policymakers and regulators while helping shape wider understanding of hydrogen’s potential role within the future energy system.
