We we tasked with undertaking a consultation that would generate evidence to inform Cambridge United’s design process and social sustainability strategy.

How we helped

Grosvenor had a long-term engagement strategy in Cambridge, having established significant trust by supporting the community over many years since acquiring the club’s stadium in 2010.

Grosvenor had plans to develop 500 homes alongside a new ‘community stadium’ with 3,000 extra seats. The plans received local backlash from stakeholders and the community, as they represented a major development on the Green Belt.

To help navigate this complex position, Grosvenor appointed Cavendish to help engage people in a formal consultation that helped to continue building trust, while reaching those who may not have previously engaged.

Following this work, we were retained by Grosvenor to provide ongoing PR advice and services in Cambridge, with a specific focus on media engagement and stakeholder relations in the city, to position the project with key politicians and community leaders.
