CaSTCo strives to provide a single, robust source of information and engagement through extensive regional collaboration.
Background
The Catchment Systems Thinking Cooperative (CaSTCo) is a solution backed by a £7.1 million 3-year project funded through the OFWAT Innovation Fund.
This initiative aims to establish the first national, standardised catchment framework that integrates collaborative monitoring and data management. With active collaboration involving 30+ partners, including 12 water companies, regulators, and experts, CaSTCo strives to provide a single, robust source of information and engagement through extensive regional collaboration.
The initiative did not have a brand and we needed to give itself an ownable and authoritative identity that reflected it’s mission.
Strategy
Our goal was to bring this initiative to life through a compelling visual identity that unites, excites, and empowers stakeholders. We aimed to create a sense of cohesion and collaboration, ensuring those responsible for our rivers feel part of a shared mission. The brand would act as a consistent and collaborative collective voice, bringing stakeholders together under one unified identity.
To advance CaSTCo’s communications, the working group required a consistent messaging focal point. This would serve as a single, holistic expression of what CaSTCo represents, providing clarity and direction for its purpose.
At its core, CaSTCo is designed to become the gold standard accreditation for partners demonstrating how citizen science and community monitoring can complement professional methods. The result is accessible, high-quality data that leads to better, more impactful decision-making.
The brand identity needed to balance exclusivity with attainability, creating a personality that feels desirable and aspirational while remaining accessible to all stakeholders.
The
results.
The brand identity has provided CaSTCo with all of the elements to allow us to position them as the gold standard accreditation for citizen science and community work around rivers.
