Construction Industry Training Board

Our role

Cavendish developed and delivered an integrated corporate communications programme designed to strengthen CITB’s profile, authority and visibility across industry, political and media audiences.

Our strategy focused on positioning CITB as a leading voice on construction workforce challenges, skills policy and sector capability — reinforcing the organisation’s role in supporting the future workforce needs of the industry.

Alongside proactive national, regional and trade media engagement, we built profile for CITB’s leadership team through thought leadership, commentary and strategic media opportunities focused on the long-term workforce challenges facing the construction sector.

We also established a dedicated press office function alongside media training and issues preparedness support to help ensure consistent and effective engagement across fast-moving media and policy environments.

The challenge

With the UK construction sector requiring more than 250,000 additional workers over the next five years, workforce shortages posed a growing challenge for housing delivery, infrastructure investment and wider economic growth.

For Construction Industry Training Board, the challenge was to strengthen understanding of the organisation’s role in supporting workforce capability, skills development and long-term sector resilience during a period of significant pressure across the construction industry.

CITB wanted to build greater visibility and authority with employers, policymakers and industry stakeholders while ensuring its expertise and leadership were more prominent within national conversations around construction skills and workforce planning.
