Dulwich Hamlet Football Club

Dulwich Hamlet FC’s stadium was in desperate need of redevelopment. To secure its future, they sought to relocate into a new stadium on an adjacent site, while redeveloping its current site for six residential blocks, containing 224 new homes.

Our in-house video team supported the project, filming a promotional video at a pre-season friendly with Premier Leage giants Tottenham Hotspur to help emphasise why the development was needed to secure the club’s future.

How we helpedArrow

How we helped

Joining the project at a time when relationships with key stakeholders were breaking down, Cavendish were able to orchestrate a comprehensive long-term engagement strategy to improve relations with key decision makers, as well as the community around the stadium.

This included meetings with the former Sports Minister Tracy Crouch MP, as well a suite of carefully tailored meetings between elected councilors and cabinet members in Southwark and the two local MPs.

We also worked closely with fans of the club, local residents and businesses through a series of consultation events to ensure the planning application was understood and had the backing of the local community.

By fostering a positive relationship in the community, gaining advocacy from the Sports Minister, and appealing to key local councilors, Cavendish were able to support Meadow Partners to secure consent at Southwark’s Planning Committee in 2020.
