Our role

Cavendish works with FCC Environment to deliver an integrated corporate affairs programme combining strategic communications, political engagement and issues management.

Working across Westminster, local government and regional stakeholder environments, we support FCC Environment in strengthening engagement with policymakers, local authority stakeholders and communities connected to waste and recycling infrastructure.

Alongside proactive media engagement and thought leadership, we secure MP site visits across the UK to demonstrate FCC Environment’s role in increasing recycling rates, recovering value from waste and supporting wider environmental objectives.

We also provide senior counsel around major policy and regulatory developments affecting the sector, helping the business navigate periods of heightened scrutiny and political sensitivity.

The challenge

As political, regulatory and public scrutiny around waste, recycling and energy from waste intensifies, operators across the sector face growing pressure around environmental performance, local legitimacy and the future role of waste infrastructure within the UK’s net zero transition.

For FCC Environment, the challenge is not simply managing reputation, but maintaining trust and credibility across a politically exposed operating environment shaped by local communities, regulators, policymakers and media scrutiny.

The business wants to strengthen engagement with political and stakeholder audiences while positioning itself as a credible contributor to wider debates around resource management, recycling and the circular economy.
