Liquid Gas UK

Our role
Cavendish developed an integrated corporate affairs campaign across Westminster and Holyrood, combining political engagement, strategic communications and evidence-led advocacy.
Working closely with MPs and MSPs representing rural and off-grid constituencies, we positioned the issue not only as an energy challenge, but also as a growing political concern for communities facing rising costs and limited alternatives.
We also commissioned polling of more than 1,000 off gas-grid consumers, generating evidence used to support political engagement and national media coverage around affordability, consumer choice and the practical realities of transition.
The challenge
As political and regulatory momentum behind net zero accelerated, the LPG sector faced a growing risk of being excluded from the future energy system altogether.
Debate around decarbonisation increasingly favoured simplified, single-technology solutions, creating significant commercial and political risk for industries reliant on off-grid heating.
Liquid Gas UK needed to reshape political understanding of the sector, demonstrate the implications of transition policy for rural communities and secure recognition for renewable liquid gases as a credible pathway to decarbonisation.

The impact
The campaign helped strengthen political support for renewable liquid gases during a critical period for the sector.
Our work contributed to growing government recognition that renewable liquid gases could play a role in decarbonising off-grid homes, helping shift debate towards a more technology-neutral transition.
The campaign also contributed to the UK Government delaying the off-grid fossil fuel boiler ban, reducing immediate regulatory pressure on rural households and creating a more favourable policy environment for renewable liquid gases.
The campaign generated coverage across national and political media and was shortlisted for ‘Best Campaign’ at the National Association Awards.
