Liquid Gas UK has been working with Cavendish since 2021 and they are a seamless extension of our in-house public affairs and communications team. The team at Cavendish has delivered consistent results – from meetings with key Ministers, MPs and MSPs to coverage in national and political media.

Chief Executive, Liquid Gas UK

Background

Cavendish is working with Liquid Gas UK, the trade association representing 99% of the UK’s LPG industry, to help position renewable liquid gases as a viable solution to decarbonising off gas-grid homes and businesses and to secure the long-term viability of the industry.

Strategy

Integrating closely with our public affairs activity, we use the political media to broaden the reach of our campaign and bring further pressure to bear on decision makers at Westminster and Holyrood.

Having established positive relationships with MPs and MSPs who are supportive of Liquid Gas UK’s plans to decarbonise off-grid homes through our public affairs work we leverage those relationships to create compelling media content. We’ve used bylined opinion pieces and joint press releases to add weight and urgency to Liquid Gas UK’s case.

To further draw attention to the issue, we commissioned FocalData to poll over 1,000 off-gas grid consumers about their decarbonisation preferences, and the affordability of different technologies. The data generated by the poll formed the basis of a national news story, as well as providing vital evidence to support Liquid Gas UK’s ongoing engagement with political stakeholders.

In Holyrood, we also secured an opportunity for Liquid Gas UK to feed into the Scottish Conservative’s ‘Christmas Press Box’ by working with Liam Kerr MSP.

Our work with both MPs and MSPs has led to coverage across the national and political media, including Conservative Home, The Telegraph, The Times, Scottish Daily Mail, Scottish Daily Express, and the Press and Journal.

The wider campaign has been nominated for ‘Best Campaign’ at the National Association Awards.
