RWE 

Our role

Cavendish supports RWE across major clean energy and CCS projects in the East Riding of Yorkshire and the Humber region, including Peartree Hill Solar Farm, the Stallingborough CCGT and CCS project, and the Staythorpe CCS retrofit project. 

We developed and delivered integrated communications and stakeholder engagement strategies designed to support consultation, strengthen local understanding and build confidence around the projects and their role within the UK’s energy transition. 

A key part of our role involved helping communities navigate highly technical and evolving project information. Working closely with technical and land teams, we simplified complex infrastructure and design processes while helping reduce uncertainty and concern around potential land and property impacts. 

We also worked closely with Harbour Energy and the Viking CCS project team to ensure consistent stakeholder engagement and messaging across interconnected infrastructure proposals

The challenge

As the UK accelerates investment in energy transition infrastructure, major projects increasingly face complex political, community and stakeholder scrutiny long before construction begins. 

For RWE, the challenge was not simply consulting on nationally significant infrastructure projects, but building trust and understanding around complex technologies including carbon capture and storage (CCS), new energy generation and associated pipeline infrastructure. 

Large development corridors and evolving project designs created additional sensitivity for communities concerned about the potential impact on homes, land and the local environment.
