Our role

Cavendish partnered with Stonewater to develop and deliver the “Safe Place” awareness campaign focused on increasing understanding of the organisation’s domestic abuse support services among referral partners and wider communities.

The campaign combined direct engagement, social media, internal communications and storytelling-led content to strengthen awareness and encourage referrals during a period of sharply increased demand.

Working closely with Stonewater, we developed a campaign identity and messaging framework designed to communicate safety, inclusion and empowerment across diverse audiences including LGBTQ+ communities, South Asian women and individuals with complex needs.

Alongside factual guidance content, the campaign incorporated video storytelling and survivor experiences to help build emotional connection and strengthen understanding of the support available.

The challenge

During the Covid-19 pandemic, rising levels of domestic abuse created significant operational, social and reputational pressure for housing providers and frontline support organisations.

For Stonewater, the challenge was not only responding to rapidly increasing demand for specialist accommodation and support services, but ensuring vulnerable individuals could continue accessing help during periods of lockdown, isolation and heightened risk.

The organisation needed to strengthen awareness and engagement among referral partners and support networks while reinforcing its role as a trusted provider of specialist domestic abuse services during a period of national crisis.
