Leading the debate.
Cavendish has been leading the debate on the future of planning and development in the Kent and Medway area. With Kent being identified as one of the key growth areas for the Government, the future of the built environment across the region will become a more prominent and crucial topic. Local Government Reorganisation, along with Reform UK’s seismic victory at county level, will pose opportunities and challenges for developers and politicians alike. Read more here.
Cavendish is bridging the gap between developers and decision-makers in this region, through the delivery of roundtable events with some of the leading political figures.
Over the last year, we have held roundtables with six leaders from councils in East and West Kent. Issues covered have included the Government’s planning reforms, housing targets and Green Belt/Grey Belt, the Devolution White Paper, town centre investment and public-private sector partnerships. Further events are planned for later in 2025.
Our people; your team.

Sarah has extensive experience in developing stakeholder engagement and public affairs strategies for clients within the Built Environment. With nearly 10 years’ experience, Sarah has worked across all tiers of government, and across different consenting regimes, advising clients such as Unibail Rodamco Westfield, Crest Nicholson and National Grid.

Nick has a wealth of experience in most aspects of development including prime residential, major commercial and corporate developments, large strategic land allocations and energy infrastructure. He has a 20-year track record successfully advising high-profile clients across the development sector, drawing on a background at both the Westminster parliamentary and local government levels to inform his counsel. Nick was formerly a local councillor in Guildford, serving 12 years on the planning committee and three years as a Cabinet Member in roles covering the environment and planning.

Michael has worked in planning communications for more than a decade, having switched from running successful election campaigns for the Labour Party to campaigning for votes on planning committees for clients’ applications.
He is skilled in providing long-term strategic political advice through to ‘on the ground’ community contact and aims to engage and motivate those people who are too often marginalised by the planning process.
Michael is our Kent Labour expert, with strong political contacts across the county’s Labour councils, as well as experience leading projects in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling and Maidstone. He is therefore able to help clients augment direct political contact with informal discussions with key influencers and decision makers across the region.

George has worked in planning communications since 2013. He has overseen project strategy for clients including housebuilders, retailers, renewable energy developers, local and national government.
Recent work in and around Kent includes projects for Crest in Tunbridge Wells, for Aldi in various locations, and for Locogen in Sevenoaks.
George grew up near Canterbury. He has been involved in party political campaigning for over 20 years – starting as a district council candidate in Folkestone & Hythe. George now lives in Headcorn (Maidstone BC), where he serves as a parish councillor.
