How can development bring the public along with New Development and New Towns in a Digital-First Era?

Get Britain Building might be a slogan of the new Labour Government, but it’s rhetoric that we’ve heard time and time again. There is a consensus on the fact that there is a housing crisis, but not on how to fix it.

Anyone involved in development will know that those who shout the loudest are usually the most negative. Capturing the voices of those who are more likely to be positive about development has always been a challenge. In response to this, Cavendish worked with YouGov to look at how we can engage the likely silent majority which deserves to be heard.

Our new report looks at how people engage with planning applications, and what their concerns are. We also look at how this could impact on the Government’s New Towns plans and how the Government can capture positivity.

The results give us an unrivalled understanding of how people want to engage – and supports our view that developers need to enhance their digital and social media engagement to capture the voices that would otherwise go unheard.
