Who’s Who: The names behind the news in Northern Ireland.

A new analysis of the people and platforms shaping Northern Ireland’s media landscape.

Northern Ireland’s media environment is more complex and more influential than ever before. A highly engaged audience and a strong sense of local identity mean organisations are operating in a space where trust and visibility are closely linked. The landscape brings together national, regional and hyper-local voices, each playing a role in shaping how stories land and how issues gain traction.

Our report sets out who matters. It maps the journalists, editors and commentators driving the agenda in 2026, alongside the outlets shaping how news is produced and shared. It also explores how that picture is evolving, as newer formats and platforms begin to influence where attention sits.

Traditional outlets remain important, but they sit alongside a broader mix of voices shaping opinion in different ways. Understanding that shift and how to engage within it is increasingly important for organisations looking to build credibility and protect their position.
