BECG will be part of the expert team from the Central South, promoting the region at one of the world’s most important global gatherings of developers, investors, and decision makers.
As part of the MIPIM programme, BECG will be running a workshop in Cannes on Thursday 17th March entitled Placemaking and Communities in the Central South Region.
It will be hosted by myself along with Richard Summers from Boyle + Summers and representatives from our Central South partner, Terence O’Rourke.
The wider team from our region will comprise leading experts from the private sector, along with public bodies such as Hampshire County Council and Portsmouth City Council.
Leading professionals from Savills, Boyle + Summers, Solent Freeport, and Packaged Living will also be there, all supported by key representatives from Business South.
BECG will also be sponsoring an exclusive Central South lunch at L’Alba the day before (Wednesday 16th March) as part of the week’s packed programme.
And it doesn’t end there, as the Central South will have a dedicated stand at MIPIM throughout the conference. It will be right next to the delegations from Helsinki, Copenhagen, Montreal, and Japan – a clear indication that our region is already well regarded on the international stage.
Which leads us onto the crucial question of what can the Central South offer investors, including those from overseas?
Our region is truly unique. With excellent transport collections and London within easy reach, it is an excellent place to do business.
Or should that be a natural place to do business? After all, we have some of the finest coastline along Dorset, West Sussex, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. We also have two national parks – the New Forest and the South Downs.
The Central South is certainly a green and pleasant land, with attractive villages and thatched cottages that you simply won’t find anywhere in London.
We also have a rich heritage, such as Portsmouth’s historic dockyard, and iconic cathedral cities including Winchester, the ancient capital of England and home of King Alfred the Great.
And yet this is not a region that looks to the past, but very much to the future, with cutting-edge technology and highly skilled jobs, especially in the marine and aviation industries.
The Central South is the place where the past meets the future, where beautiful countryside meets vibrant towns and cities, and our seas and skies are the gateway to the globe.
With all these assets, it is clearly one of Europe’s leading regions, if not the world, and BECG is keen to ensure the Central South is properly represented.
Our region has a unique story to tell, and MIPIM 2022 is the perfect stage for it to be told.
